As part of this month’s Emancipation observances, the Department of Culture is hosting its Emancipation Youth Creativity Competition, with the deadline for submissions on July 26.

A Government spokesperson said, “As part of this month’s Emancipation observances, the Department of Culture is once again hosting its Emancipation Youth Creativity Competition.

“Bermuda’s young people are encouraged to submit their poems, WhatsApp or YouTube videos, or any other artwork or creative expression exploring the idea of ‘How Have My Ancestors Made Me Strong.’

“This creative activity is a way to engage our young people about the importance of celebrating and understanding the importance of Emancipation as part of Bermuda’s history. It’s also in keeping with the common theme of resilience, something that has greatly defined us greatly over the last 18 months. This competition can help explore what has helped us endure over the generations.

“Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place entries. Submission deadline is Monday, July 26.

“Submissions can be emailed to culture@gov.bm or sent via WhatsApp to 333-8048. Please include the competition title in the subject line or message.”
