Bermuda Referees Selected For CFU Series
The Caribbean Football Union selected four Bermudian referees – Natasha Trott, Amaury Majors, Clinton Hayward, and Stefan Maybury – as officials in the CFU Challenge Series, which will take place later this month in the Dominican Republic.
A spokesperson said, “The Caribbean Football Union [CFU] announced on Sunday, August 16th, 2021, that the 2021 Boys’ and Girls’U-14 Challenge Series will take place from August 22-29, 2021, in the Dominican Republic.
“The CFU introduced the Challenge Series in 2018, starting with the boys’ contest. They are held in alternating years, however, last year’s edition was postponed due to the pandemic, hence the staging of both competitions this year.”
“Four Bermudian referees have been selected as officials in the Challenge Series namely Natasha Trott, Amaury Majors, Clinton Hayward, and Stefan Maybury. All will depart on Friday, August 20th.
“It is with immense pride, that I am pleased to announce that four local assistant referees have been selected to officiate at the CFU Under 14 Challenge Series tournament,” said Referee Chairman Crenstant Williams.
“The four officials have worked extremely hard over the past eighteen months to ensure they were selected. They participated in weekly technical and fitness training sessions. This group of officials has shown the desire and hunger that is required to become an elite FIFA official. It is the committee’s hope that they will inspire more persons to become involved in officiating.
“Refereeing now has a place in football here on the island and opportunities are available to persons who have the drive and the ambition to succeed. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted our four aspiring officials in their journey.
“It has been a long and exhausting process and now we are close to seeing the fruits of their labor. The Referees Committee is optimistic that we will be making additions to our current FIFA list in 2022.”
