‘Updates Will Move To Technical Briefing Format’

August 13, 2021

“The Covid-19 updates will move to a technical briefing format,” Premier David Burt said, explaining that “we will be switching to a new, more technical format for updates going forward, which will not include myself or the Minister of Health on a regular basis.”

Speaking at last night’s [Aug 12] press conference, Premier Burt said, “Tonight’s press conference will be the final regularly scheduled press conference attended by the Minister of Health and myself in this current format.

“Following tonight, the Covid-19 updates will move to a technical briefing format, with public officers from Health and other relevant departments providing the public and their representatives in the media with the essential technical details regarding the coronavirus.

“If there are major announcements and changes to policies to be made, they will be made by Ministers, but standard updates will be given by the technical officers in the future.”

“This will be the final regularly scheduled Covid-19 press conference and that we will be switching to a new, more technical format for updates going forward, which will not include myself or the Minister of Health on a regular basis,” the Premier said

That’s really the way it should have been since a long time ago – he loved the attention but now is taking political heat so wants to fade into background

This will make life easier for the premier and Ms. “I don’t have that information at hand”.

So the Premier does not want to face the media. Clearly understood.

Not so confident in himself anymore is he? Can’t handle a little pressure from the media.

  8. Guy Carri says:

You know there’s been a lot of camera time when P. Burt has had enough of it!!! LOL!
Guess it isn’t important enough for his time.
Keep living under his rule though. He won’t give up that power.

  9. comfortably numb says:

At least we”ll be spared the sight of Burt endlessly scrolling through the social media feeds on his phone instead of paying attention to media questions and Wilson struggling to find any answers from the her vast binder of crib sheets prepared by her ministry. Wonder if the technical officers will start on time: that would be a first.

  10. Triangle Drifter says:

Maybe he will do a little island hopping for a rest.

Martha’s Vineyard has all kinds of summer events going on. Perhaps he has a connection there. Perhaps he could claim it to be a business trip & bill it to the Bermuda taxpayers.

    Perfect.

Could they take it a step further and let the technical folk run the country? As opposed to the Muppet Show.
