Andra Simons Releases “Turtlemen” Book
Bermudian Andra Simons has released Turtlemen, “a book of prose, poem and play arising from generations of a people who were isolated on the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda, a people torn from their continent and severed from their ancestral stories.”
The Copy Press website said, “Turtlemen… a myth born from the loss of myth. A book of prose, poem and play arising from generations of a people who were isolated on the mid-Atlantic island of Bermuda, a people torn from their continent and severed from their ancestral stories. In a language often raw and heartbreaking, Turtlemen is composed to take you to the deepest recesses of sex, oppression, intimacy and ultimately what it means to survive – it is for speaking out loud.
“Andra Simons is a Bermudian writer and performer living in London. He studied theatre in Canada and had his first collection of poetry, The Joshua Tales [Treehouse Press], published in 2009. He has performed at numerous festivals and events.
