Minister To Update On Return To School Plan

September 30, 2021

The return to school plan “will see some schools return to in school learning as soon as next week,” the Premier said.

Speaking during today’s [Sept 30] press conference, Premier David Burt said, “Tomorrow at 3pm the Minister of Education the Hon. Diallo Rabain will provide the country with an update on the return to school plan, which will see some schools return to in school learning as soon as next week.”

“Students, parents, and teachers have been resilient. We know that all are eager to return to the classrooms. We thank everyone for their patience while the Government takes special care to ensure that we do this as safely as possible, and the return to school does not set us back on the path of seeing an end to this outbreak.”

On September 23, the Minister of Education Diallo Rabain said, “As we have repeatedly expressed, our goal is to return to in-person learning as quickly as possible and we will return to in-person learning once it is safe to do so and the data supports it.”

“Each school will be assessed individually, and the data that we are looking at includes the percentage of students consenting for the Saliva Screening Programme, coronavirus testing results, and staffing availability.”
