Carey Olsen To Sponsor Bermuda Tech Summit
Carey Olsen Bermuda announced that it will be sponsoring this year’s Bermuda Tech Summit, which will be held virtually from October 13 – 15.
A spokesperson said, “The event, which this year has the theme ‘Transforming the Digital Landscape’, will feature Carey Olsen partner Steven Rees Davies as a panellist for the discussion around Bermuda’s future digital infrastructure. Steven, who is a key adviser to clients in the digital technology sector, recently joined the corporate practice in Bermuda after 13 years at another offshore firm in the island.
“He represents a significant number of digital asset companies headquartered, or with operations, in Bermuda, and worked with the Government of Bermuda on the introduction and development of its digital asset legal and regulatory regime. Steven will also be chairing a breakout session at the summit on the range of employment opportunities available in Bermuda’s growing fintech sector for both Bermudians and foreign nationals.
“In addition, counsel Sheba Raza will be moderating a panel session on tech investment trends and the private wealth sector, and include discussion on the use of sophisticated investment strategies, corporate structures and integrated technology solutions in Bermuda as risk diversification tools by family offices and private equity firms to drive global investment in the tech sector.
“Other topics to be discussed at the summit, which is hosted by the Bermuda Business Development Agency, include the future of money through blockchain, the transformative power of decentralised finance, the influence of digital identity in financial services and the evolution of sustainable development and technology.”
Steven Rees Davies said: “Sheba and I are greatly looking forward to this year’s Bermuda Tech Summit. It is always a privilege to be invited to take part in and support industry events such as this and to be part of the debate and discussion alongside other leading technology thought leaders, legislators, practitioners and entrepreneurs.
“Bermuda has a rapidly growing fintech and digital asset business sector and the Tech Summit is a perfect demonstration of the jurisdiction’s commitment to building the right infrastructure and ecosystem that will provide certainty, reliability and innovation for businesses looking to thrive in this fast paced area.”
“The Bermuda Tech Summit is free to attend and more information can be found on the event website.”
