Coast Guard Assist Children Who Called For Help
Several children took a “punt from the beach to go fishing and started calling for help when the punt started taking on water” and the “vessel was found and towed to safety by the Coast Guard,” officials have confirmed.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Friday 24th September, 3:33 pm – A member of the public located at Church Bay contacted RCC Bermuda via a 911 call, they could see a small vessel with persons onboard calling for help and waving sticks. A Pan Pan was broadcast which was answered by dive vessel Modern Sinbad and the Bermuda Coast Guard.
“The vessel was found and towed to safety by the Coast Guard. It transpired afterwards that several children had taken a punt from the beach to go fishing and started calling for help when the punt started taking on water.”
