Four Teams Confirmed For World Rugby Classic
Organisers of the World Rugby Classic, which will be held next month, confirmed the four teams — Rugby Canada, Rugby Italian XV, France Classic Rugby and the Classic Lions — that will take part.
The World Rugby Classic posted on social media, saying: “We are now only three weeks out until the 33rd World Rugby Classic! Lots of planning is going on behind the scenes and there have been a few changes. Matches will now start on Monday, November 8th and we will be welcoming four teams; Rugby Canada, Rugby Italian XV, France Classic Rugby and the Classic Lions.
“While it will be a scaled down event for 2021, we promise the same energising rugby and atmosphere you have missed! Tickets must be purchased in advance from Ptix and proof of vaccination and a valid SafeKey are required.”
On their official website, the World Rugby Classic also said, “The 33rd Annual Rugby Classic, which takes place from the 7th to the 13th November, will be a “Vaccinated Only” event.
John Kane, the World Rugby Classic President, in announcing this said “Our primary concern is to protect everyone attending the Classic, as well as Bermuda at large, and this is the best way we can do this.
“Vaccination plus SafeKey will be required of everyone including players, official, volunteers, caterers, delivery personnel et al and no one, including ticket holders, will be able to access the National Sports Centre North Field area without them.
“SafeKey, following a negative Covid test, is not sufficient on its own for our purposes, vaccination is the key for those 12 and over.
“It is very important that we put on a safe event as Bermuda needs to start on the road to recovery and this event provides some much needed income to the Island, and welcome news for local sports enthusiasts is that Bermuda will be taking part for the first time in many years.
“The 33rd Classic will be an all ticket event with no sales at the gate. General admission tickets may be purchased from Ptix [www.ptix.bm] while those seeking hospitality tickets should email Jkane@worldrugby.bm.”
