October 6, 2021

Following her outstanding showing at the CMU meet where she won seven events, Bermuda’s Madelyn Moore has earned the Western Athletic Conference [WAC] Swimmer of the Week award.

Moore competes for the University of Northern Colorado, and their report said, “Senior Madelyn Moore raced seven times over the weekend at the Intermountain Shootout in Grand Junction and seven times the Bermuda native walked away with a first-place finish.

“The Western Athletic Conference has announced Moore as the conference Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday for her efforts. Coming off a WAC Swimmer of the Year performance in 2020-21, Moore made sure to demonstrate she had no intentions of surrendering the title in 2021-22.

“Individually, Moore was by far the fastest in the pool in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 fly. She also anchored each relay at the CMU Natatorium, holding off in-state rivals Colorado State and Air Force as well as a strong BYU team in the 200 free, 400 medley, 200 medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.

“Entering the season, Moore owns three individual school records [50 free, 100 free and 100 back] and has been part of four school record-holding relay teams.

In announcing her as the winner, the WAC website noted that “her 50 fly time is currently ranked sixth in the nation according to College Swimming.”
