Donawa Scores In Solihull Moors Victory

October 27, 2021

Bermuda’s Justin Donawa scored for Solihull Moors as they claimed a 2 – 1 victory over Altrincham.

The club’s match report said, “Substitute Joe Sbarra netted the winner as Solihull Moors came from behind to beat Altrincham on Tuesday evening. The midfielder received a one-two from Callum Maycock before slotting underneath Matthew Gould to secure all three points for Neal Ardley’s side.

Justin Donawa interview following the win

“Moors made five changes to the side that beat FC Halifax Town on the weekend, with Kyle Storer, Adam Rooney, Jamey Osborne, Justin Donawa and Danny Newton coming back into the starting eleven.

“Sbarra, Ryan Barnett, James Ball and Andrew Dallas took their places on the bench alongside Harry Boyes, while Alex Gudger missed out through illness.

“The best chance of the half fell to Maycock who was looking to notch for the second game running. Donawa’s long throw was cleared but only to the feet of the midfielder, but his powerful drive cleared the crossbar.

“Ardley’s side made the perfect start to the second 45, equalising less than a minute into the half. A flowing move involving Newton and Rooney found Donawa in behind, before the Bermudian smashed the ball past Gould for his first of the campaign.

“Shortly after the hour mark, a double change saw Sbarra and Dallas replace Osborne and Newton. And that change paid off less than 10 minutes later. It was Sbarra who played a give-and-go with Maycock before coolly slotting under the legs of Gould.”
