Nia Christopher scored for the Towson University women’s soccer team, marking her 12th goal of the season, with the Bermudian footballer now tied for third for goals in a single season in Towson history.

The school’s match report said, “Nia Christopher scored in on the Towson University women’s soccer team’s final chance in regulation to send the Tigers to a 2-2 draw vs. Charleston on Senior Day.

“Towson [7-5-3, 2-3-1 CAA] had several chances vs. Charleston [2-9-3, 1-3-1 CAA] in the game despite being down at the half, forcing overtime with the Christopher goal from Phoebe Canoles in the 90th minute. Towson outshot Charleston 7-1 in extra time but had to settle for the draw.

“Towson got two early chances from Nia Christopher in the opening 11 minutes, with each being saved by Meredith Holton. Towson went for a Maja Hansson header on a resulting corner kick, with the attempt being wide.

“The Tigers continued to get chances in the later minutes, but Charleston kept holding the lead until the final minute. Canoles took a ball from midfield and sent it to the box, finding the foot of Christopher for the shot and score with 34 seconds left to force overtime.

“Towson kept being aggressive and got three straight corner kicks in the opening minutes, but could not get shots off on them. After a clear, Christopher took aim in the 94th minute and missed high.

“With her 12th goal of the season, Nia Christopher is tied for third for goals in a single season in Towson history.”
