Video: ‘Taking Off’ Highlights Jason Inniss
Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport, with this episode featuring Jason Inniss, Skyport’s Director of Airport Operations.
Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “This week, we’re bringing you another episode in our new series Inside LF Wade. And it’s a good one. If you’ve ever wondered why certain airlines fly on certain days or how the schedules are set. We are going to break it down. Meet Jason Inniss, Skyport’s Director of Airport Operations.”
Mr. Inniss said, “Airline flight scheduling is a very complex process. Especially considering major carriers that operate into Bermuda who have large aircraft fleets and route networks throughout the world. These airlines typically operate thousands of flights each day.
“Each airlines has a flight scheduling department, that must consider several factors including aircraft and crew availability, airport slot contraints; ensuring high aircraft utilization.
“Here at the L.F. Wade International Airport we work closely with each airline to facilitate their schedule as best as possible and publish a consilated schedule on our website. Business travellers you want to make sure your maximization of flights on specific days like Mondays and Fridays for return business trips.
“For leisure destinations the airline typically will schedule an afternoon arrival as is the case with most of the flights out of the east coast into Bermuda.
“At the new L.F. Wade International Airport we have six parking stands which each come with a passenger boarding bridge. Therefore with the typical turnaround time for a narrow-body aircraft of 60 to 90 minutes we can accommodate several aircraft throughout the day.
“Well, we always ask passengers to always check with your airline. At the end of the day, the airline publishes the schedule. Skyport provides a consolidated schedule which you can always check, but we always advise you, before travel to follow up with your airline to ensure there are no cancellations or time changes to your flights.”
