“Two representatives from each country’s nine member National Spiritual Assembly, selected by random draw, were invited to attend this singular occasion. Bermuda is being represented by Ms. Shyama Ezekiel-Fagundo and Mr. Read Currelly. Both are currently in Haifa with fellow members of the National Assemblies from around the world.

“Bermuda can look forward to their sharing of the experience upon their return at the end of November. Zoom Invitation Remembering 'Abdul Baha

“The person of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá is revered by Bahá’ís who often refer to him as ‘The Exemplar’ because his life embodied in every way a perfect example of practical spirituality and service to humanity. It is these qualities that all Bahá’ís aspire and all people should strive to attain.

“To be a Baha’i simply means to love all the world; to love humanity and try to serve it; to work for universal peace and universal brotherhood.” ['Abdu'l-Bahá]

“As well as being considered the Exemplar, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá is also recognized as the ‘Center of the Covenant’ of the Faith; he was the eldest son and designated successor to the prophet-founder of the Bahá’í Faith, Baháʼu’lláh. Sunset on November 24th also marks the 100th anniversary of the ‘Day of the Covenant’.

“It is a time for reaffirming commitment to maintaining a unified Faith, and to following the teachings and exhortations of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, who made clear his line of succession and the spiritual and administrative leadership of the worldwide Bahá’í community.

“The Faith is now spiritually led by the Universal House of Justice at the Bahá’í World Centre in Haifa. The Universal House of Justice is composed of nine individuals from around the world who are elected every 5 years by secret ballot cast by each country’s nine elected members of National Spiritual Assemblies.

“The House of Justice inspires and supports Bahá’í activities worldwide which promote unity, elimination of prejudice, promotion of equality of men and women and education of children and youth, among other central teachings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.

“The local Centenary observance on zoom will last 45 minutes and will include specially composed music for the 100th anniversary, as well as short video clips highlighting the life of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.
