Police Investigating 28-Year-Old Woman’s Death
[Updated] The police have confirmed they are “investigating the sudden death of a 28-year-old woman” after they “attended the residence in response to reports of a domestic incident and found the woman’s body with suspected multiple stab wounds.”
A police spokesperson said, “Police are investigating the sudden death of a 28-year-old woman whose lifeless body was found at a Smith’s Parish residence shortly after 2:45 this morning.
“Police attended the residence in response to reports of a domestic incident and found the woman’s body with suspected multiple stab wounds.
“A 37-year-old unresponsive male found at the scene, was transported via ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was attended to for injuries to his hands.
“He is now assisting police with their investigation into this incident.
“The scene has been forensically processed and death was certified by an on-call physician.
“Police are appealing for anyone who has any information on this incident, to please call 211 or the main police number, 295-0011.”
Update 11.55am: Shadow Minister of National Security Michael Dunkley said, “I was shocked and saddened this morning to learn of the tragic domestic dispute in Smiths last night which resulted in a young woman losing her life and a man in the hospital. I have been in contact with the Police and I am assured that they are on top of this matter. I have also reached out to residents in the area.
“Any type of violence is very disturbing and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those affected by this horrible incident.”
Update 4.57pm: “A shocking and tragic loss,” said the Minister of National Security, Renee Ming.
Minister Ming continued, “I wish to extend my condolences to the family of the young woman and ask our community to please keep her loved ones in their thoughts as they deal with this tragic and untimely loss.
“The investigation into this death is in the early stages, but I encourage anyone with any information about this incident to please call 211 or the main police number, 295-0011 to share what they know.”
