Ryan Parris & Alyssa Cardoso Complete CPA

The Managing Directors and staff of KPMG in Bermuda congratulated Ryan Parris and Alyssa Cardoso on the successful completion of their CPA Canada accounting exams.

Mr Parris joined KPMG in Bermuda’s Audit department in January 2019, where he focused on Insurance, after graduating with a degree in Business/Finance from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Canada.”

He said, “To be officially able to say that I have passed my CPA Canada exams, and eligible to become a qualified CPA is a blessing. After three years of late nights and tireless efforts, I am happy to look back and say that I have successfully made it to the other side!

“I would especially like to thank my family as well as KPMG’s Graduate Committee for continuously supporting me throughout this journey. I will always remember this day as an enormous milestone and stepping stone for my career to come.”

Ms  Cardoso joined KPMG in Bermuda’s Audit department in September 2019, also focused on Insurance, after graduating with a degree in Business/Accounting from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, Canada.

She commented, “After two years of hard work I am excited to have successfully completed the CPA Canada exam process. I am very grateful to my family, friends, and to KPMG and the Graduate Committee for all of the support and guidance they offered me through this challenging experience to help me accomplish this success.”

Steve Woodward, Managing Director and Head of the KPMG Lift Off Graduate Programme added, “Full credit to Alyssa and Ryan for successfully completing the CPA Canada programme and the Common Final Examination at the first attempt.

“They have worked really hard over the last few years and it’s great to welcome two newly qualified accountants to the profession. Thanks also to everyone involved with the KPMG Lift Off Programme who supported Alyssa and Ryan in their acheivement. We look forward to seeing them continuing their career development with the firm.”

The company added, “The Lift-Off Programme has three robust curriculums. The first is our Summer Internship/Co-Op Placement Programme where employment is offered to a select group of Bermudian undergraduates [12-week period for interns and 4-6 months for university co-op placements].

“The second is our KPMG Scholarship Programme whereby an award, valued at $20,000 per annum for up to three years, is granted to a Bermudian university student interested in pursuing a career either as a Chartered Professional Accountant, a Certified Public Accountant or an Associate Chartered Accountant.

“Within our third curriculum, many of our interns and scholarship recipients then continue on to take part in our Graduate Trainee Programme, where they join us as full time employees and are supported with on the job training, mentoring as well as sponsorship of further education towards their professional accounting designation.
