The National Cross-Country Championships took place this past weekend and saw some stellar performances ahead of this weekend’s Mile Reloaded event.

A spokesperson said, “In the Under 10 age group victors in the boys and girl’s categories were Ronan Davidge of Saltus Grammar School in a time of 8:51.42 and Solae Goater of Developing National Athletes [DNA] in a time of 9:15.65. Also making the podium were Liam Horrobin of MAAC and Cree Bean of DNA for the boys, and Colette Durkin of MAAC and Elena Bortoli of DNA for the girls.

“In the Under 12 age group, Chavi Pacheco-Hill and Kelise Wade both from DNA, took home the titles of National Champions in the times of 9:48.80 and 11:21.92, respectively. Also making the podium were Timothy Jackson and Sanchez Smith making it a clean sweep for DNA for the boys, and Antoinette Berry and Riana Robinson, both of the Bermuda Pacers for the girls.

“Cameron Adkins of MAAC, in a time of 13:12.85 and Jaeda Grant of the Bermuda Pacers, in a time of 14:01.38 became the Under 14 National Champions. Joining them were Tom Hyland of MAAC and Luca Bortoli of DNA for the boys, and S’nya Cumbermack of Saltus Grammar and Ava Butterfield of MAAC for the girls.

“The young men and women of the Under 17 age group saw victors Tajahri Rogers of DNA and Fenella Wightman who ran unattached to take top spots in times of 19:10.21 and 25:40.02, respectively. Also on the podium were J’auza James of the Bermuda Pacers and Tajai Goater of DNA for the young men, and Carina Bortoli of DNA and Fasika Simons of DNA for the young women.

“In the Under 20 men and women age groups, Tommy Marshall of DNA in a time of 19:01.23 and Meron Simons of DNA in a time of 24.49.26 became the National Champions. Joining Tommy on the podium was his DNA teammate Iziah Tucker [20:14.88].

“In the Open and Senior men and women’s categories, Martin Wolffe Unattached [33:29.16], Gayle Lindsay of MAAC [21:05.03], Darryl Herrick of MAAC [20:44.60], Rose-Anna Hoey of MAAC [21:23.98], Sean Kelly of MAAC [28:05.69], Mairi Redmond of MAAC [30:09.73], Tony Riker of MAAC [35:45.49], and Sharon Craig of MAAC [32:40.35] all won their respective age categories and took home the titles of National Cross- Country Champion. Congratulations to all the competitors who participated in the BNAA 2021 National Cross-Country Championships.

“The end of the cross-country season marks the beginning of the 2021-2022 track and field season. The first event to take place on the track is the Mile Reloaded and is set to feature many of our podium performers from the cross-country championship. The event will be held on Friday, December 10th at the Flora Duffy Stadium, with the first race starting at 6pm. Athletes can register at www.Trackiereg.com. Covid protocols will be in place.”
