240 Chromebooks Donated To School Students
The Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust is donating 240 Chromebooks to students through the Ministry of Education.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust will proceed with their 2021 commitment to the Bermuda Department of Education, using funds from the October 2021 event, giving 240 Chromebooks with hard cases to P1 and P2 students, through the Ministry of Education.”
Anne Mello, chair of the Bermuda End-to-End board, said: “We are thrilled to be able to further support Bermuda public school students with this acquisition of Chromebooks at a time when computer based education has never been so crucial. Through this programme, launched in 2019 by Hasso Plattner and furthered by Lighthouse Connect, the L&G educational fund, will benefit primary students across the island.”
Acting Minister of Education Tinee Furbert, stated, “It was my pleasure to join the Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Kalmar Richards in receiving the Chromebooks donated by the Bermuda End-to-End organization.
“Our public school students have been through quite a bit this past year, and to be able to have all of our students benefit from having a Chromebook is phenomenal. We are grateful to the Bermuda End-to-End team, and the people of Bermuda for such a worthwhile donation. Thank you.”

A spokesperson said, “In the fall of 2021, Minister of Education Diallo Rabain clarified that a Chromebook is assigned to a student for the duration of the time that they spend at the primary school level. It is used for in-person learning, during remote learning; and for assignments that are to be completed at home. It may also be used during summer learning programmes. Teachers have had professional development courses with Schoology, a distance learning system that facilitates a Blending Learning Programme.
Carol Parker Trott, Communications & Marketing Director at AXA XL in Bermuda which has sponsored the End-to-End for more than a decade, said: “Education is a critical cornerstone in the advancement of any society and has always been one of the key strategic pillars of AXA XL’s philanthropic focus.
“The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Bermuda’s public school system should not be underestimated. It is vital that students in the system have access to technology that will enhance opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom. At AXA XL we are pleased that funding from the 2021 End-to-End event was used to provide much-needed computer devices for primary public school students as well as to support seniors in the community.”
Platinum Sponsor, Michael Neff, Managing Director at Butterfield said: ‘Butterfield has long been a supporter of education and empowering young people in Bermuda to pursue their aspirations.
“As such, we are delighted to see the funds raised from the 34th Bermuda End-to-End help provide our primary school students with the resources they need for both in-person and remote learning. We were pleased to play our role as a platinum sponsor of last year’s End-to-End and it is great to see this long-standing event continue to contribute to the community in the positive way it does.”
A spokesperson added, “At the conclusion of 2021, the Bermuda End-to-End Charitable Trust exceeded $6 million in giving in 34 years. The 2022 event will take place on Saturday, May 7th and marks the 35th anniversary.”
