Man Arrested For Threats On Social Media
A 34-year-old man has been arrested following “threats and other menacing comments made on social media toward Premier David Burt during a live interview,” the police have confirmed.
A police spokesperson said, “This morning, officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit carried out a search at a Hamilton Parish residence after an investigation was launched into threats and other menacing comments made on social media toward Premier David Burt during a live interview.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested and detained in relation to this matter.
“Persons should be mindful that threats and offensive and other menacing acts towards anyone on social media may be contrary to the Electronic Communications Act 2011, and persons committing such acts, if found guilty, may be imprisoned for one year or be fined $25,000.00, or both.
“No further information on this investigation will be provided at this time.”
