NVCC And KICS Strike New Partnership
North Village Community Club [NVCC] has partnered with Kids in Control Systems [KICS] to provide workshops for student-athletes.
A spokesperson said, “Sport scouters are seeking holistic athletes and Angela Young, Founder and President of Kids in Control Systems [KICS] prepares young athletes to meet this challenge.
“At a recent presentation at North Village Community Club’s board meeting, Angela shared how in eight years of operating KICS, she has coached some of Bermuda’s upcoming and brightest young football and cricket talent.
“In fact, some of these clients have been scouted for full scholarships at high schools in the United States and London. And, now some have full football scholarships at D1 and D2 level universities in the United States.”
Ms. Young said, “While I had the students at ages 12 through to 14 in some cases, the parents remain in touch with me and give me updates.
“Now, they are 16, 18 and 20 years old pursuing their dreams of becoming professional footballers. All of them have received full scholarships based on both their high academics and outstanding athletic abilities.”
As the competition increases, some clubs are looking at diverse opportunities to ensure their players have an edge—on and off the field.
Shervin Dill, NVCC President, said, “North Village Community Club had the pleasure of meeting with Ms. Angela Young this past Tuesday evening at our Board Meeting. We had the opportunity to hear and learn first-hand what her KICS System Program is all about.
“Angela did an excellent presentation detailing all the exciting opportunities and holistic benefits her program can provide to our Youth Program at NVCC. The Board was very impressed with her energy and methodology of teaching, and we are looking forward to partnering with Angela and the KICS Systems team.”
The spokesperson said, “Angela launched KICS in May 2014, after assisting her own daughter, Kameron, to strengthen her executive functioning skills while at Bermuda High School for Girls. Today, Kameron has evolved as one of Bermuda’s next STEM girls to watch as she is proficient in coding, fluent in Spanish and is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London.
“Her flagship program, Note-taking & Studying Strategies, is highly sought after by parents. Angela has worked with over 300 students from ages M1 and up across Bermuda’s public and private schools since its launch in May 2014.”
Ms. Young said, “A KICS workshop is like no other. Students do not know what to expect but at the end of the six weeks, they leave with practical tips and tools which set them apart from the rest. I develop the whole child and I tailor the lessons to meet them where they are at. KICS gives an edge.
“I think that is what NVCC is looking for. The Executive understand that they must employ new strategies to truly make a unique impact on their players and their families as a whole. North Village has a long history of producing excellent athletes and I am honored to collaborate with the Club to help mold the next generation of Bermuda’s athletes.
“NVCC is the first community club to partner with KICS and I am very excited.”
The spokesperson said, “The next Note-taking & Studying Strategies workshop kicks off on January 29 and spots are going quickly. There is a special offer which expires on January 28 at 5.00pm. For registration details, parents are encouraged to visit the website.”
