Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with X-Roads, North Village Rams, and Wolves all earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.
Premier Division
Somerset Eagles 3 – X-Roads 4
At the White Hill Field, X-Roads picked up their second win of the season after defeating the Somerset Eagles 4 – 3. Somerset Eagles took the lead in the 15th minute when Keedai Astwood scored, but five minutes later the score was level as Aaron Spencer scored for X-Roads from the penalty spot. Jahvon Morgan gave X-Roads the lead in the 38th minute, a lead they took to the break.
Marcus Johnson extended X-Roads’ lead when he scored in the 65th minute. Spencer then added his second of the game to give X-Roads a 4 – 1 lead in the 70th minute. Somerset Eagles pulled a goal back in the 78th minute when Dylan Arruda scored, and then in the 88th minute Jensen Rogers pulled the Somerset Eagles within one.
St. George’s Colts 0 – Devonshire Colts 0
The St. Georges Colts and Devonshire Colts match was postponed as Devonshire Colts confirmed that several players tested positive.
Robin Hood 0 – North Village Rams 2
The North Village Rams picked up their seventh point over the holiday period, defeating Robin Hood 2 – 0 at the BAA Field.
An own goal in the fifth minute gave the North Village rams the lead. Z’Chai Jennings-Barnett doubled the North Village rams lead with a goal in the 28th minute.
Neither team found the back of the net for the remainder of the game as the North Village Rams moved up to fourth place in the standings.
First Division
BAA 2 – Hamilton Parish 2
In a top of the table clash at the BAA Field, BAA and league leaders Hamilton Parish drew 2 – 2. BAA came from 2 – 0 down to earn the point. Hamilton Parish got goals from Jordan Outerbridge and Mauriq Hill to lead, but BAA won a penalty that was converted by Riley Robinson. BAA then won a free kick in their half of the field which was taken by goalkeeper Peter Silvester; the goalkeeper’s free kick into the box was misjudged by everyone and went straight into the net to level the score at 2 – 2.
Wolves 1 – St. David’s 0
At the Wellington Oval, Wolves defeated St. David’s 2 – 1. Kyle Brangman scored in the 42nd minute to give Wolves the lead. They took that lead to the break. Antinori Butterfield doubled the Wolves lead in the 67th minute. Otis Minors pulled a goal back for St. David’s, but they could not find the equalizer.
