Phillips Advances To ITF Guatemala Main Draw
Fresh off his first ITF Tennis Championship win, Daniel Phillips recently took to the courts to battle in the J5 Guatemala International Tennis tournament.
Phillips, as he did in the previous tournament, had to compete in the qualifiers to advance to the main draw.
He took on Cowen Lau from Indonesia in his first qualifier, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. He then took on Jigme Balseiro from Guatemala in his second qualifier, winning that as well in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
In order to get into the main draw, Phillips had to defeat Samuel Mala from Brazil, and he did just that in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.
