March 7, 2022

The Bermuda Red Cross has raised more than $86,000 for the Ukraine Disaster Appeal, contributing toward the international goal of raising $100 million to assist the nation, which is facing a humanitarian crisis due to Russia’s invasion.

The Bermuda Red Cross, said, “We have received just over $86,000 in donations for the Ukraine Disaster Appeal. When we have reached the $100,000 mark, we will send the funds to British Red Cross, who then work directly with the Ukraine Red Cross. This account will remain open for at least three months, or until there have been significant changes.

“The International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent [IFRC] has an initial goal of raising $100 million. To date, British Red Cross has raised $36 million. All aid agencies have seen an unprecedented amount of donations coming in for this crisis. IFRC has deployed a massive surge team and at least two Emergency Response units in relief and logistics who will be operating in surrounding countries and in Ukraine itself.”

A spokesperson previously said, “Your donation will mean we can reach even more people in desperate need. Please donate today. Donations can be made by direct deposit into the following account: Bank of N.T. Butterfield – 20 006 060 663859 200
