Results: Premier & First Division Football
Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this weekend, with Boulevard Blazers, Hamilton Parish, Paget Lions, and PHC Zebras all earning wins, while two other matches ended in draws.
First Division
Boulevard Blazers 2 – Young Men Social Club 1
The Boulevard Blazers moved into second place in the First Division following their 2 – 1 win over Young Men Social Club at the BAA Field.
Ryan Parris gave Young Men Social Club the lead in the 29th minute, but the Boulevard Blazers were level in the 47th minute when Takeyhi Walker Samuels scored. The winner came in the 55th minute when Ian Coke blasted a shot from an angle that flew into the back of the net.
Hamilton Parish 3 – BAA 2
This battle of first and second at the start of the day in the First Division did not disappoint at the Wellington Oval in the first 45 minutes as all five goals were scored.
Macquille Walker scored a hat trick for Hamilton Parish with goals in the 24th, 30th, and 45th minutes, while Caleb MacDowall scored in the 32nd minute and Tre Burgess scored in the 36th minute for BAA.
The victory has secured Hamilton Parish a spot in the Premier Division next season.
Vasco 4 – Paget Lions 6
The Paget Lions picked up their first win of the season as they hung on to defeat Vasco 6 – 4 at the Southampton Oval.
The Paget Lions jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead after 28 minutes as Patraic Castle, Saige Hewey, and Jelani Simmons scored in the 7th, 26th, and 28th minutes. Hewey scored his second of the game in the 48th minute, Simmons scored his second in the 51st minute, and Danerio Tacklyn made it 6 – 0 to the Paget Lions in the 62nd minute.
Kevin Cabral pulled a goal back for Vasco in the 65th minute and Daniel Teleman then made it 6 – 2 in the 74th minute. In the 88th minute, Lamaul Crofton scored to make it 6 – 3, and then in stoppage time Jake Fox scored for Vasco to make it 6 – 4, but that was as close as they would get.
Premier Division
X-Roads 1 – Somerset Eagles 1
Two teams that needed a win settled for a point at the Garrison Field as X-Roads and the Somerset Eagles ended at 1 – 1.
The Somerset Eagles went ahead in the third minute when Shakir Smith scored, but in the 60th minute, Donavan Thompson equalized for X-Roads.
St. George’s Colts 2 – Devonshire Colts 2
The St. George’s Colts and Devonshire Colts ended in a 2 – 2 draw at the Wellington Oval.
Devonshire Colts took the lead in the 18th minute when Brandon O’Connor scored, but in the 26th minute, the St. George’s Colts were level with Macai Simmons finding the back of the net.
The St. George’s Colts went ahead in the 86th minute when Jahron Dickinson found the back of the net, but two minutes later it was 2 – 2 when Freeman Lema scored for the Devonshire Colts.
Devonshire Cougars 0 – PHC Zebras 2
The PHC Zebras defeated the Devonshire Cougars 2 – 0 at the Devonshire Recreation Club.
Tre Ming gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute; they took that lead to the break. Marco Warren doubled the PHC Zebras lead when he converted from the penalty spot in the 86th minute.
