Masks Required In Government Buildings

March 31, 2022

“All persons entering Government buildings must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth,” the Government advised today.

A government spokesperson said, “As the public is aware, effective tomorrow [April 1] mask requirements will change and will only need to be worn in specific settings. However, as recently noted by the Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, businesses can set mask requirements for entry to their premises and for access to services that are appropriate for their establishments and all customers, clients and staff must comply with it.

“As such, Government is advising that after tomorrow: All persons entering Government buildings must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth.

“This policy will be reviewed on April 18 at the next Cabinet Covid Committee Meeting. The Government of Bermuda thanks the public for their cooperation and compliance with the mask requirements.”

  1. Riga says:

Well that’s absurd. You make a law saying businesses have the option to not wear masks, then you mandate it in Government buildings. This Government are utterly clueless.

We just need to get on with life, go to Europe, go to the US, its normal. But the Bermuda Government knows better.

If you are nervous, you wear a mask, but don’t MANDATE it on everyone.

  2. James Wellcome says:

Bad week for Premier Burt and a bad decision from his Government.

You can’t make a rule and then enforce it differently. No masks please.

  3. S says:

    Does that include public schools?

    • Joe Bloggs says:

That will include most Government schools. Whitney Institute, for example, is not a Government owned building.

  4. In Mark's Opinion says:

Fear is a powerful weapon against the majority on this earth. How the men on TV made sickness a crime and breathing fresh air inside a crime. It is worrisome, how so many went along with this plan to destroy freedom, health, justice, knowledge and information. Everyone is responsible for their own health. Eat healthy and be healthy. Thank God I’m self employed, I didn’t have a crazy boss saying the government said we got to cover our breathing holes for 8 hours a day.

  5. Question says:

    Utter bollocks isn’t it.

  6. Angry says:

Now is the time to boycott businesses who harass people to wear a mask in their establishment.

    • Triangle Drifter says:

You won’t be boycotting any businesses then. What is your feeling on boycotting Government since Government is the only ‘business’ requiring masks?

    • Truth is killin' me... says:

      You’ll starve then LOL

    • Joe Bloggs says:

Feel free to boycott any establishment you like. With your attitude, I would not let you into my home without a mask, therefore you should boycott my home.

Every building owner has the right to ban anyone they wish from the building.

Good luck trying to buy food without a mask!

    • PBanks says:

This is the kind of statement that is probably most troublesome to businesses who are weighing up the decisions on maintaining mask mandates or ceasing them.

For every potential customer who is against mask-wearing in stores, there may be another who is all-for-it. I don’t envy those places who are trying to figure out the best way forward in a way that encompasses all personal opinion on the matter.

    • Disturbed says:

Why would you punish a vulnerable person for wearing a mask? Or a store protecting a vulnerable person that works there?

    • Jahmal says:

      #Gorhams
Insisting on masks, I’m going some place else.
