Convex End-To-End To Take Place On May 7th

April 23, 2022

The Convex End-to-End will take place on Saturday, May 7th, marking the 35th time the annual event has been held.

A spokesperson said, “The full End-to-End event which is 24.1 miles and the Middle-to-End which is 14 miles may sound just too much of a challenge to many potential participants, particularly if they are taking part for the first time.

“The End-to-End Fun Walk is the perfect alternative for families with small children, seniors, primary school students or persons who just want to take part but cannot commit to the full day. The End-to-End Fun Walk will start at Beacon Hill Road at the Railway Trail at 2pm, Athene has sponsored the Fun Walk for the past four years, but in 2022 have ramped up their support to a new level.

“Heron Bay Primary will have 50 participants take part with the generous additional sponsorship of Athene. Their students, staff and parents will take part due to the ongoing commitment of Athene to the school. The dozen members of the Bermuda Special Olympics team are able to take part again in the 2022 event, thanks to Athene covering their registration.”

“Athene is excited to renew our sponsorship of the Convex End-to-End event and expand our charitable efforts to allow more children to participate in the Fun Walk,” said Natasha Scotland Courcy, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer at Athene.

“Giving back in the communities where our employees live and work is woven into Athene’s DNA, and we look forward to another year supporting one of Bermuda’s biggest fundraising events.”

The stretch from Beacon Hill to the Convex End-to-End Finish Line is action -packed with three water stops and the infamous stretch between Watford Bridge and Cockburn Road where a host of spectators set up camp to cheer on participants for this last leg of the event.

Anne Mello, Bermuda End-to-End board chair said “It’s important for our event to be completely inclusive to all, regardless of their athletic ability. It’s about coming together, the community spirit and raising funds for our three selected charities in 2022. We stand at $6.2 million raised in our 34 years of fundraising.

“We aim to significantly top up this figure this year. Those charities are Bermuda National Trust, Transitional Community Services and the Inter-Agency Committee. In addition to the three identified charities, there is a $15,000 award to the top fundraising school, sponsored by Deloitte. With Convex coming on board this year as our title sponsor and the possibility of having a full-blown event, our registration numbers have really been boosted”.
