IAC Training On Nonprofit Board Development

April 25, 2022

The Inter Agency Committee for Children, Families, and the Community [IAC] has opened registration for a 3-part training series focused on effective nonprofit board development.

A spokesperson said, “The training will be facilitated by Danielle Riviere of OD Solutions and will run virtually from 5pm-7pm on Thursday May 5th, Thursday June 2nd, and Thursday July 7th. The workshops are targeted at new or less experienced nonprofit Board members, or anyone interested in joining a nonprofit Board.

“Effective Board functioning is vital to nonprofit success. Key to this is ensuring all Board members understand their role and responsibilities and have a framework for understanding good governance best practice needed to evaluate a Board’s strengths, weaknesses and plans for growth.”

IAC’s Programme Manager, Shana Williams stated, “IAC’s Board Development series was designed with the intention of strengthening the efficacy of non-profit governance in Bermuda. The importance of the Third Sector has never been greater, and board leadership is a key component of its success. I encourage both new and seasoned nonprofit board members to register and become informed with current developments in board best practices.”

A spokesperson added, “The cost of the training series is $20 for members or $100 for non-members. To register for the training, visit here. Non-members can register online for IAC membership for $35 per year.

“IAC is Bermuda’s only nonprofit focused specifically on social sector capacity building to support our nonprofits and social programmes. IAC strengthens organisations by providing technical training, leadership development, organisational assessments, coaching and coordination; and it unifies the sector by facilitating collaboration, network building and sector-wide communication.”
