Parish Primary Schools & Signature School
“The academic year beginning September 2023 will see the opening of two new Parish Primary Schools and one new Signature School,” the Ministry announced.
A spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Education is pleased to announce the next steps in progressing the Government’s bold and ambitious Education Reform agenda.
“In a letter to affected schools on Friday morning [April 1], the Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo V. Rabain, JP, MP, announced that it is anticipated that the academic year beginning September 2023 will see the opening of two new Parish Primary Schools and one new Signature School.
“The Parish Primary Schools will be at the current Francis Patton Primary and Purvis Primary sites, and an additional Senior Signature School, which will offer two Signature Learning Programmes, Hospitality & Tourism and Education Services.
“It should be noted that throughout this process, there has been extensive consultation [December 2020 to July 2021] on the Parish Primary School concept. Both Francis Patton Primary and Purvis Primary schools’ sites will embrace the models and features of Parish Primary Schools, as determined through the extensive engagement process that concluded in July 2021.
“The site for the new Senior Signature School will be announced in due course.
“And those working on developing the Hospitality & Tourism and Education Services Signature Learning Programmes will have the opportunity to work with and learn from those involved designing the Signatures for Bermuda’s two current Senior Schools, The Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy.
“Educators from across the system and key stakeholder groups have been invited to express an interest in joining the School Transformation Team, which will work together over a 17-month period to bring these new school models to life.
