‘Strange Situation’ Located, Crew Are All Safe

After initially issuing an advisory to ‘be on the lookout’ for a sailing vessel that left Bermuda and was expected to arrive in Nova Scotia on May 25, the First Coast Guard District has confirmed that vessel has been located and all “crew members are safe”

The USCG Northeast tweeted the image below and said, “Be on the lookout for the 50ft sailing vessel, Strange Situation. The Strange Situation departed Bermuda, May 16 and was expected to arrive in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, May 25. U.S Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth city is assisting with a C-130 crew.”

They followed up with a tweet saying, “The S/V Strange Situation has been located in Clarks Harbor, Nova Scotia. All crew members are safe,” and the Canadian authorities added, “JRCC Halifax can confirm that the overdue SV Strange Situation has established communications confirming they are not in danger. They have updated their anticipated arrival and assets have been stood down. JRCC Halifax will continue to monitor until they are safely at port.”
