Boxer Kevin Hylton has apologised on behalf of the Jamaican contingent who missed their connecting flight to Bermuda for Fight Night Champion, which has been postponed until next month.

Hylton, whose professional record is 7-7-1, was due to face Nikki Bascome [10-1] in an eight-round welterweight bout in the main event at The Shed at Dockyard tomorrow.

Hylton said in a video-recorded statement: “I’m sorry not to make it to Bermuda for the fight. I’m sincerely sorry. I want to apologise to the fans, to the promoter, to the boxing board, to the boxing commissioner, and to all the patrons who got pumped up to see a showdown with me and Nikki Bascome.”

Andre Lambe [4-0] must also wait to meet Jamaican debutant Dwayne Lawrence in a four-round welterweight contest.

Promoter Epic Entertainment confirmed the new date will be June 25.

It is understood the amateur undercard will proceed as scheduled, free of charge, with all tickets for the original event valid for the new date.
