Govt Presents $25,000 To Jah-Nhai Perinchief
[Updated with video] On behalf of the Bermuda Government, Premier David Burt presented a cheque for $25,000 to triple jumper Jah-Nhai Perinchief.
In an online post, Premier David Burt said, “On behalf of the Minister of Youth, Culture & Sport Dr. the Hon. Ernest Peets and the Bermuda Government, I presented a cheque for $25,000 to Ms. Janita Perinchief, mother of SEC Champion and Bermudian triple-jumper Jah-Nhai Perinchief. We were also grateful that @nhaistayfly12 himself was able to join us virtually.
“In the 2021 Throne Speech, the Government promised to provide more investment for our elite athletes to support them as they compete on the world stage.
“We take pride in keeping our promises to the people of Bermuda and honoring the commitments that we have made. This promise to assist elite Bermudian athletes is no different and Jah-Nhai’s hard work and dedication is deserving of our support.
“Over the years we have watched with joy as Jah-Nhai has grown from a promising local talent to an elite athlete and a world-class triple-jumper who competes and wins at the collegiate level for the @utknoxville and on the international stage representing Bermuda.
“I am proud that the Government can help him to continue his outstanding performances, and help with his preparations for the remainder of the outdoor athletics season including this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. I am sure he will continue to make our country proud!.”
All the best to Jah-Nhai on his quest to make a major mark in the athletics world
