Single Lane Closure On Palmetto Road
A new BELCO trenching project will commence on Palmetto Road near Barker’s Hill roundabout and this “work will require a single lane closure for the duration of the trenching,” the Ministry advised.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform the motoring public that a new BELCO trenching project will commence on Palmetto Road near Barker’s Hill roundabout, heading along North Shore Road and extending east to Store Hill junction. This work will require a single lane closure for the duration of the trenching.
“Trenching work will start Monday May 30th, 2022 and will be ongoing until Friday September 2nd, 2022. Working hours will be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, daily Monday through Sunday.
“Motorists are asked to avoid this lane closure section on Palmetto Road and North Shore Road by using alternative routes via Middle Road from Store Hill or Frog Lane.
“Traffic controls will be under the direction of BELCO representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals and directional signs during rush hours.
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously through the construction sites and avoid speeding to protect themselves and construction workers on site.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.
“Should there be any questions regarding the BELCO trench works, please contact Mr. Jonathan Pedro, Project Manager for BELCO on 295-5111 ext. 1441. Any queries regarding detours, contact Mrs. Tina Beer-Searle, Acting Principal Highways Engineer for the Ministry of Public Works on 501-3044.”
