This week, only four official games were recorded in softball as rain made the Michael Preece Softball Diamond unplayable.

In the A Division, the game of the week was a thriller as Blue Wahoos broke the X-Bats 15-13 in extra innings. Wahoos pulled off the comeback by scoring three runs in the seventh as Sean McNulty [3-5] hit a two-run homer, then piled on five runs in the eighth as Jeremy Estey [2-5] supplied his own out-of-the-park shot. Chris Jackson and Matt Katz were both three for five with a homer. This game probably would have been a victory for X-Bats except for a logistical blunder in the fifth. A big six-run inning could have been bigger, except a player batted out of turn and was sent back to the bench after reaching second base. Pat Murphy and Dan Andrade set the table for X-Bats by gathering three hits apiece, with Mike Tre and Robbie Bailey smacking homers.

MoonGate Brewers dethroning The Kings 16-12 behind four players getting three hits each. Shawn Furling, Richard Medeiros, Gary Adams, and Greg Bell led the charge for the Brewers, with Adams plating four runs and homering. Both Medeiros and Alex Morris also homered. MoonGate moves into a tie for third while The Kings slip into last place. Matt Ingleman was 3-3 from the bottom of the order for The Kings, and Richard Campbell had a good game going 2-3 in the loss.

Paraquet Flyers went to the top of the A Division with a 16-9 benching of the Fully Loaded Allstars. The Flyers are the only team above .500 with a 4-2 record. They have managed to win the close ones as they are only plus five in run differential. The Allstars dropped to second after the loss, but a -10-run differential suggests neither of the top two teams is safe. MoonGate [+30] and X-Bats [+19] are just one point back with a game in hand and fifth-place Wahoos, who are two points back, lost an extra point when they had a forfeit early in the season.

In the C Division, The Corporation of Hamilton [COH] locked up the Five O’s 27-8 in the week’s only blowout. This game was over in five as COH scored six in the first and ran away with it. Yizharyah Williams was five for five in the leadoff spot. Quinn Simmons had eight RBI thanks in part to two three-run homers. Rodney Trott [3-4], Damon Walker [3-4], Phillip Ander [3-4], and Michael Parson [4-4] all gave pitcher Herbie Bascome plenty of support. No one on Five O’s had more than one hit.

In inter-league play, both the women’s clubs won had victories over their C Division counterparts, with Western Stars Angels putting the brakes to Mike’s Trucking 17-11 and HardKnockz derailing Super Express 15-13 thanks to a 10-run fifth inning. Western Stars jumped out to an early lead by scoring two in the second but scored 11 runs over the final two frames to salt away the game. Casandra Trott [4-4] rallied the troops by scoring three runs and picking up three RBIs. Debbie Deshields, guest player Shannon Raynor, and Shawnette Perott all had three hits in the win. Mike’s Trucking picked up all their runs late. Jaylen and Jaryn Martin picked up seven hits, with Jaylen besting Jaryn 4-3. John Outerbridge [3-4] also contributed at the plate.

Tache King [3-4] blasted one out of the park for HardKnockz, while Rasheen Durrant [1-1] and Vanessa Paulos both had three RBIs in the victory for Hardknickz. Sarah Robinson aided the cause by going a perfect two for two. Garic Swainson and Mackih McGowan were both 3-3 for Super Express with two bombs each. Teammate Antoine Jackson [3-4] also showed off his bat skills.
