Team Gnosis Victoria Park Criterium Results
The Gnosis Criterium was held yesterday [May 15], which marks the last cycling race before the Bermuda Day Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race.
A spokesperson said, “The VT Construction team swept the Open category podium with Cameron Morris, Phil Mace and Dominique Mayho putting on a clinic on how to dominate with team tactics. Mace’s early solo breakaway was then joined by Morris and Mayho to leave the remainder of the peloton to scramble to the minor places.
“In the Women’s category teenagers took the top three spots with Charlotte Millington [VT Construction] and Annabelle Miller [Winners Edge] forming an unmatched pairing off the front. Mid-race sprint bonuses helped push the duo further until the latter laps when a hard-charging Liana Medeiros got clear of the remnants of the peloton to finish in third.
“Ricky Smith once again showed the Citizens category that age is not a factor when it comes to crit racing. Smith scooped all the sprint prizes and the eventual victory with smart positioning and well-timed surges that left teens Jake Smith and Jackson Langley scratching their heads as to how to beat Smith the next time.
“Youth category races were won by Andrew Thomas, Skye Ferguson and Make Butterfield.
“The next event on the cycling calendar is the Bermuda Day Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race from Somerset to Hamilton on May 27th. This will be the 35th edition of the race which was first held in 1987 when it was won by Buddy Ford. The 2021 winners were Dominique Mayho and Nicole Mitchell.”
