Information Commissioner Attending ICIC
Information Commissioner Gitanjali Gutierrez is representing Bermuda at the 13th annual conference of the International Conference of Information Commissioners [ICIC], held in Puebla City, Mexico from June 22 to 24.
A spokesperson said, “Commissioner Gutierrez attends as a member of the ICIC Executive Committee, accompanied by Investigation Officer Answer Styannes.
“The theme for this year’s conference is Access to information, participation and inclusion in the Digital Age. The open sessions, on Wednesday, 22 June and Thursday, 23 June, will stream online at the ICIC’s YouTube channel, as free to all members of the public.
“Commissioner Gutierrez will participate as a panel rapporteur for the open session on Artificial intelligence and algorithm governance in the Digital Age, scheduled for Wednesday, 22 June from 1:40pm to 3:00pm ADT.
“The ICIC is the only permanent international network that connects member Information Commissioners to collectively protect and promote access to public information as a fundamental pillar to social, economic and democratic governance globally.
Its mission is to ‘share knowledge and best practices, to build capacity, to help identify what is needed for global progress and to act as a collective voice in international fora with a view towards improving people’s right to public information and their ability to hold to account bodies that provide public functions’.
