Part Of Middle Road Temporarily Closed
[Updated] After a “truck lost a load of gravel” leading to “poor road conditions,” a portion of Middle Road in Southampton, in the area of Barnes Corner, has been temporarily closed this morning [June 1], the police have advised.
At 9.15am today, a police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the motoring public that due to poor road conditions, a portion of Middle Road Southampton, in the area of Barnes Corner, has been temporarily closed until Works and Engineering crews can assess the situation.
“Initial information suggests that a truck lost a load of gravel causing an obstruction to both the east and west bound lanes.
“Traffic headed east is being diverted at the South Road and Middle Road junction and traffic headed west is being diverted at the Middle Road and Church Road junction until the affected area is deemed safe to travel.”
Update: A police spokesperson said, “The gravel obstruction near Barnes Corner has now been cleared and traffic diversions are no longer in effect. The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the motoring public for their patience and cooperation.”
