St. George’s March Newsletter Released

The Corporation of St. George’s has released its March newsletter, detailing upcoming events, community activities, and updates following the recent General election.

Town Manager Candy-Lee Foggo remarked, “March marks a transition as we move from winter activities to more outdoor events. The Corporation of St. George’s will hold its next General Council Meeting on Thursday, March 27th at 6 PM in the Towne Hall. Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend to learn about ongoing projects, new initiatives, and to participate in the public Q&A session.” The meeting agenda includes welcome remarks, observances, reports from the Town Manager, updates from committees and Government Board members, and contributions from other Board members.

A spokesperson said, “This month’s newsletter celebrates St. George’s cultural heritage with an article titled “Heritage and Culture Blended”. Another feature, “Awakening to Spring in St. George’s,” highlights the beauty of the season, encouraging residents and visitors to enjoy Somers Garden’s beautiful flowers, the captivating scents of Lili Bermuda Perfumery, and fresh floral arrangements from Gardine’s Flowers ‘N Things, the town’s newest business.

“Following the national election on February 18, 2025, MP Renee Ming and MP Kim Swan have been re-elected, continuing to represent St. George’s in Parliament. The Corporation of St. George’s now falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Housing and Municipalities, led by Minister Hon. Zane DeSilva, JP, MP., while the Mayor and Councillors remain in place.

“The town has an exciting lineup of events for the community. The Urban Foot Race is scheduled for Friday, March 14th at 7 PM. On Saturday, March 22nd at 8:30 PM, residents are encouraged to participate in Earth Hour by switching off lights for one hour in support of global sustainability efforts. UNESCO World Poetry Day will be recognized on Monday, March 24th from 12 to 2 PM at King’s Square, where local primary school students will recite poems marking 25 years of World Heritage Site status.     A wonderful start. Ain’t no stopping you now. Please implement a Kenneth Bascome event, day etc. Lest we forget. A wall with 8,× 10 photos weather residtant with names of footballers mayor’s, golfers,cricketers town criers etc etc in a no spoil unesco spot would be brilliant. Or brought out once a month …fund a way. Photos and titles do wonders.
