Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship July 2022The Bermuda Billfish Blast kicked off with 35 boats and over 200 crew from around the world, who are all “competing for over $300,000 in cash plus prizes.”

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Billfish Blast kicked off with 35 game boats and over 200 anglers and crew from around the world. They are competing for over $300,000 in cash plus prizes. This is the first leg of the Bermuda Triple Crown.

In providing an update last night, the organisers said, “The Bermuda Billfish Blast first day dawned with sunny skies and moderate winds for the fleet of 35 teams competing in the first leg of the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship.

“A total of 25 billfish were released including 18 blues, 4 whites and 3 spearfish. Team Reel Addiction with Captain Cragin Curtis won the day with two blue marlin releases for angler Parke Berolzheimer who also leads the Top Angler category.

“Team Mama Who with Captain Will Thornhill released a blue and a white to hold second place going into tomorrow with team Rainmaker and Captain Topher Wightman sitting in third with one blue marlin release.

“Reel Tight angler Taylor Lambert leads the Lady Angler category with one blue marlin release and Nick Lopes on Game Changer leads the Junior Angler division with one blue marlin release. No qualifying marlin were weighed today so the Largest Marlin Jackpots roll to tomorrow.”
