BUEI’s Fun Movie Weekend & Silent Auction
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] will be hosting a weekend of fun deep-sea movies in the Tradewinds Auditorium, including one the entire family can enjoy for free.
A spokesperson said, “Kicking-off the weekend on Friday, July 22nd at 6pm is a special screening of BUEI favourite, ‘The Deep’, last shown at BUEI in 2004. Set in Bermuda in 1977, this film features two amateur treasure-hunting divers that inadvertently discover the secret cargo of a World War II shipwreck.

“On this night only, BUEI will host a silent auction and happy hour reception at 5:00pm featuring memorabilia from the movie. Items on auction will include film crew signed tee-shirts, vintage special edition Marvel Movie comic books for ‘The Deep’, original movie posters and small props. Part of the proceeds from the auction will go towards BUEI’s Educational Programmes.
“The weekend of fictional films continues on Saturday, July 23rd at 5:30pm with a complementary screening of the family friendly 1964 animated film, ‘The Incredible Mr. Limpet’. Starring Don Knotts as Henry Limpet, this film follows the adventures of Mr. Limpet as he falls into the sea, transforms himself into a fish and quickly becomes friends with the ocean life.

“Closing out the fun movie weekend at 4pm on Sunday, July 24th, is ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’ starring Bill Murray as Steve Zissou. This film follows the journey of renowned oceanographer, Steve Zissou, who has sworn vengeance upon the rare shark that devoured a member of his crew.
