Photos: Fragrant Harbor Catches 493lb Marlin
A 493 pound marlin was caught today [July 5] by the crew on the ‘Fragrant Harbor,’ one of the boats taking part in the 2022 Bermuda Triple Crown.
According to the event website, another boat — ‘Krazy Salts’– caught one slightly larger, weighing in at 495lbs. ‘Fragrant Harbor’, which is based in Florida, is now listed on the result website as having -514 points while ‘Krazy Salts’ is listed as having -510, as according to the rules, boats receive “500 points for blue marlin releases and one point per pound for every blue marlin that meets or exceeds the minimum 500-pound weight” and “boats weighing undersized blue marlin are penalized 500 points plus two points for every pound the fish is underweight.”
The fishing tournament has attracted 35 boats and over 200 crew from around the world. The event is billed as “an angler’s dream, the pursuit of world record size blue and white marlin draw some of the finest sport-fishing vessels in the Atlantic, Gulf, and Caribbean to Bermuda each summer to compete in the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship.”
