Bermuda Players Begin Squash Championships

Bermuda players began competing in the WATA XXVII Senior Caribbean Singles and Doubles Championships 2022 in Jamaica.

Rachel Barnes took to the court in the women’s singles, defeating Chloe Walcott from Trinidad in a four-set battle that took 26 minutes to complete.

Barnes won the first game 11-2. She then took a 2 – 0 lead after she won the second game 11-6. Walcott pulled a game back by winning the third game 11-8, but Barnes closed out the match by winning the fourth game 11-7.

James Dodgson faced Kasun Abeysekera from the Cayman Island in his men’s singles first round match, falling in 30 minutes in four matches.

Dodgson won the first game 11-9. Abeysekera leveled the match at 1 – 1 when he won the second game 11-7. Abeysekera then took a 2 – 1 lead after winning the third game 11-2. Abeysekera closed out the match by winning the fourth game 11-6.
