Covid: 118 Positive, 144 Active, 7 In Hospital

The Ministry received 4,169 test results — spanning 7 days — and 118 were positive, so there are now 144 known active cases, of which 7 people are in hospital.

A Government spokesperson said, “Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4169 test results, and 118 were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 3%.

“These results are from testing done on:

  • Tuesday: 26 positive out of 690 results [3.8% positivity]
  • Wednesday: 20 positive out of 622 results [3.2% positivity]
  • Thursday: 13 positive out of 503 results [2.6% positivity]
  • Friday: 20 positive out of 523 results [3.8% positivity]
  • Saturday: 11 positive out of 660 results [1.7% positivity]
  • Sunday: 17 positive out of 646 results [2.6% positivity]
  • Monday: 11 positive out of 525 results [2.1% positivity]

“52 of the new cases are classified as imported.

“The additional 66 new cases are classified as either local transmission [23] or under investigation [43].

“Additionally, there were 212 recoveries and 0 deaths.

“There are 144 active cases, of which:

  • 137 are under public health monitoring; and
  • 7 are in hospital, with 0 in intensive care.

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 17674 coronavirus cases, out of which 17382 have recovered, and sadly there have been 148 coronavirus-related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 58 are Imported
  •  35 are classified as local transmission
  • 51 are Under Investigation

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 3816 are Imported
  • 13680 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 5868 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 7812 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 178 are Under Investigation

“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. For age distributions and overall transmission categories, please refer to https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-covid19-update. The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 0.47.
