Labour Day Holiday Garbage Collection Advisory
[Updated] The Ministry of Public Works is advising that “due to the Labour Day holiday, household waste that would normally be collected on Monday, September 5th, will instead be collected on Tuesday, September 6th.”
A Government spokesperson said, “All garbage collection the week of Labour Day will follow a rollover schedule with Tuesday’s garbage collected on Wednesday, Wednesday’s collected on Thursday, Thursday’s collected on Friday and Friday’s collected on Saturday.
“Recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday. West End recycling will be collected on Thursday 8th of September, while East End recyclables will be collected on Friday 9th of September.
“The Tynes Bay Pubic Drop Off will be open during the holiday from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and is free to drivers of private cars, L and LP vehicles. Recyclables and other items are also accepted.

Update 8.03pm: A Corporation of Hamilton spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton wishes to advise City businesses and residents that garbage collections will be scheduled as follows for the Labor Day Holiday:
- “Monday, September 5th – Garbage collection will take place for Businesses, Bars and Restaurants Only.
- “Tuesday, September 6th– Normal garbage collection will resume for All.
“All garbage should be placed on the sidewalks or designated garbage areas by the times indicated in the Refuse Collection Schedule.
“Please Do Not place garbage out for collection unless a collection is scheduled for that day.”
