Senior Golfers Society Present $2,000 To PALS
Malcolm Durrant, President of the Bermuda Senior Golfers’ Society [BSGS], recently presented a cheque for $2,000 to Colleen English De Grilla, Executive Director of the PALS charity.
A spokesperson said, “The money was raised from members playing in the Society’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament earlier this year, which marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the BSGS. The Society was formed in May 1952 by 38 charter members, including the then Governor, Sir Alexander Hood, who was its first President.
“Today, the Society has some 90 members, although not all are active, and weekly events in various formats are played year-round on courses throughout the island at discounted rates.
“The tournament season runs from late September until early May, whilst a more informal Summer Programme operates in the other months. Members must have reached the age of 55 and be residents of Bermuda or annual visitors.
