Video: BWS Deputy Director Michelle Pitcher
Deputy Director of the Bermuda Weather Service Michelle Pitcher will joining Bernews at 1.30pm this afternoon [Sept 20] for the latest episode in the Bernews News & Views series, with Ms Pitcher set to provide an update on Hurricane Fiona, which the BWS said is a ‘threat to Bermuda’ with their latest forecast discussion noting that ‘a tropical storm watch/warning may be issued later today in advance of Hurricane Fiona’s approach.’
The latest BWS forecast states, “Major Hurricane Fiona will approach the Island from the southwest, with a projected track to pass to our west from Thursday night through Friday morning. Outer rain bands may sweep over us as Fiona approaches. Winds rapidly increase to Tropical Storm Force late Thursday into Friday and may briefly near Hurricane Force on Friday morning.”
