Smith Finishes 32nd In Cross Country Debut

Sancho Smith and his Clayton State University men’s cross country teammates opened their 2022 campaign at the University of North Georgia Invitational at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Course.

Smith and his teammates finished in fifth place.

The men’s team was led by freshman Gabriel Oliveras, Oliveras, in his 8k collegiate debut, finished in 14th place overall with a time of 28:30.8.

Following Oliveras was fellow freshmen Rakiem Barnes, Khayri Davis, and Smith. Barnes finished in 29th place with a time of 29:45.88 while Davis finished in 31st with a time of 30:17.4 and Smith finished 32nd with a time of 30:24.2.

Rounding out the top 40 finishers was Camron Gaddis and Lance Little. The Clayton State freshmen finished in 38th and 39th, respectively.

Clayton State finished in fifth place out of seven schools, with 108 points.
