Tech Education Day To Be Held On October 31st
The Ministry of Economy and Labour, through the Economic Development Department [EDD], announced that the annual Tech Education Day will be held in person on October 31st.
A Government spokesperson said, “Co-sponsored by Circle and Nimble, leaders in Bermuda’s Fintech industry, the event is held in partnership with the EDD and Bermuda Business Development Agency. It will feature presentations and discussions from Bermudians making their mark in the IT industry. It will cover topics such as Fintech, Web 3.0, NFTs, coding, robotics, and more.
“Following the morning presentations and panel discussion, the afternoon will focus on the Reverse Pitch Competition, where teams from competing schools pitch their tech solutions to the audience and a panel of judges. The day will end with a reception to celebrate Bermudian and Bermuda-based innovators to close the TechAwards competition.”
“In line with Bermuda Youth Employment Strategy, It is our goal to develop a knowledgeable workforce that will propel Bermuda’s economy forward, and it all begins with investing in Bermuda’s students,” said Minister of Economy and Labour Jason Hayward. “The annual Tech Education Day is a key part of that effort.”
“The event seeks to develop a sustainable, informed and skilled workforce by educating Bermuda’s youth on technology and Fintech. And so, I am excited to see the return of Tech Education Day to an in-person event, as it was virtual last year due to COVID-related restrictions. The students will be able to enjoy a more interactive and engaging day of events. Participating in the various activities offers a better understanding of tech and Fintech, both sustainable and viable career paths.”
The spokesperson said, “Individuals and businesses seeking more information or interested in participating in or supporting the Tech Education Day event should email EDD Senior Analyst Maryem Biadillah at mbiadillah@gov.bm no later than October 7th.”
