Bermuda Quartet To Play In Golf Event
Four Bermuda golfers will compete in the first round of the Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship at Port Royal Golf Course tomorrow [Oct 11].
Cory DeSilva, Oliver Betschart, Camiko Smith and Damian Palanyandi will be up against 17 of the APGA Tour’s top players at the two-day invitational, which features 36 holes and is the first international event in the history of the APGA [Advocates Professional Golf Association].
The Bermuda quartet earned their entry into the field during the recent Butterfield Bermuda Championship Local Qualifier.
The APGA players scheduled to play are Jarred Garcia, Joseph Stills, Kevin Hall, Kamaiu Johnson, Willie Mack, Marcus Bryd, Ryan Alford, Trey Valentine, Aaron Grimes, Tim O’Neal, Tommy Schaff, Brad Adamonis, Andrew Walker, Jordan Bohannon, Joe Hooks, Christian Heavens and Rovonta Young.
The event’s $60,000 purse is the fourth-largest on the APGA Tour, and this year’s champion will receive $15,000 in prize money.
The PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship will also be held at Port Royal from October 27 to 30. The Championship features 132 players, 72 holes of stroke play and $6.5 million prize money.
