KPMG Announces New Leadership Appointments

KPMG announced the appointment of Bron Turner and Ian Gardner as Managing Directors and Ed Fitzgerald, Jay Smith, and Lesley-Jane Smith as Directors.

A spokesperson said,  “In addition to these appointments, we are announcing the retirement of Damion Henderson as Managing Director.

“Bron Turner has 13 years audit experience and joined KPMG in Bermuda in October 2013, having previously worked in South Africa and the UK. Bron is part of the Audit – Financial Services team and has been the lead audit engagement director for several of the firm’s key clients. Bron leads the audits of several newly formed entities, including a Class F Digital Asset Business.

“Ian brings 25 years experience in the insurance/financial services sector, having worked in a number of roles both in practice and industry and across a range of senior leadership roles. Ian rejoined KPMG in Bermuda in January 2020 as a Director, having been with the firm’s Audit practice some 20 years earlier. Over the last three years, Ian has led the growth in our outsourced/cosourced internal audit services and wider governance/Board Advisory, risk-advisory and regulatory compliance-related services.

“Ed Fitzgerald joined KPMG in Bermuda in May 2021 as the KPMG Islands Group [KIG] Regional Head of Healthcare & Life Sciences. Ed originally joined KPMG in the UK in 2016 following a career as a medical doctor and is now responsible for building our healthcare advisory practice across KIG. His management consulting experience provides strategy, policy, and operational expertise, with a particular focus on health system strengthening including care model design and universal health coverage.

“Jay Smith re-joined KPMG in Bermuda in September 2017 as a Senior Compliance Manager and MLRO, having previously worked for a Bermuda bank. In February 2020, Jay joined the Global Quality & Compliance Review program with KPMG International where he assesses member firms for compliance with selected KPMG International policies and procedures and to share best practices among member firms.

“Lesley-Jane Smith joined the firm in July 2020 as a Senior Manager in the Finance department, previously working as the Group Financial Controller with a local Bermuda company for over seven years. Lesley manages all aspects of the firm’s financial operations and fiscal management, and provides leadership and coordination of the business planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, accounting and reporting for the firm.

“Damion Henderson retired from the firm on September 30, 2022, after a career with KPMG spanning 25 years. Damion started with the firm in 1997, and after spending 2 years with a local bank, he returned in 2005 as a Director, becoming a Managing Director in 2008. Damion has worked with a wide range of insurance clients from leading the firm’s captive group to leading a number of the firm’s largest audit engagements.
