Wine & Wordsmithy Event On November 4th

October 24, 2022

Wine & Wordsmithy, fresh off the success of its inaugural event, has announced that its second event will take place on Friday, November 4th.

A spokesperson said, “The venue will be Mitchell House – home of the St. George’s Historical Society Museum and the Featherbed Alley Printing Shop, currently celebrating its 100th year. The focus of this event will be on the art of creating atmosphere in writing. The house, built in the 18th Century, is full of history and shadows – the perfect backdrop to consider the importance of mood.

“The evening’s participants will be guided through an expert wine tasting by Jo-Rena Davis – the Wine Diva – in a literary style. This month’s wines will reflect the season and the rich surroundings and are being supplied by The Tasting Room – where guests will be able to purchase their favourite drinks after the fact. Jo-Rena, is a Level Four candidate with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust [considered one of the foremost providers of wine qualifications].

“Similar to the initial session, writers will be put through their creative paces by Siân Blackmore with two writing challenges oriented around creating mood in writing, designed to stimulate their imaginations and push them out of their comfort zones. There will also be an opportunity to collaborate and share work. Siân is a local communications specialist who is working on her first novel. She holds a Master of Studies degree from the University of Cambridge in Creative Writing.”

Siân Blackmore said: ‘We are incredibly excited to be hosting an event at Mitchell House. A place rich with history and shadows, it’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in spooky and atmospheric writing. While we might be missing Halloween by a few days, we think this will be a lot of fun for those with an imagination.’

Jo-Rena Davis said: ‘The feedback we’ve had about the first Wine & Wordsmithy has been phenomenal, and we are so pleased to be able to create an enjoyable and productive space for those who are in need of a creative outlet. Not to forget that we’ll also have some wonderful wines to give everyone a little liquid courage!’

“Included in the cost of the event is an expertly guided wine tasting of three wines, a light repast of cheese and charcuterie as well as creative writing exercises and collaboration. The event will finish at 8:30pm. Tickets are $75 including gratuities and can be purchased by visiting PTIX.bm here.”
