BHB Server Back After Temporary Down Time
An “air conditioning failure in the Acute Care Wing unfortunately caused BHB servers to power down this morning” [Nov 4], however the server was back on line by “early lunchtime.”
A BHB spokesperson told Bernews. “An air conditioning failure in the Acute Care Wing unfortunately caused BHB servers to power down this morning, due to rising temperatures. The air conditioning, which is maintained by Paget Health Services, was repaired in the morning, and BHB’s staff worked bring the server back on line by early lunchtime.”
Dr Michael Richmond, BHB CEO & President, comments: “A big thank you to BHB staff who reverted to our planned downtime procedures and kept patient care services running throughout. We have an amazing new electronic medical records system called PEARL, which went live just one week ago, but we can continue delivering care if there is an unexpected interruption.
“The only patient impact was a later start to surgery, and we apologise to the patients who had to wait. This was because of the temperature in the ACW, so unrelated to PEARL, and we expect that all the surgeries scheduled for today will take place.”
